DOES THE LAW HAVE ANY RIGHT TO CLAIM A LIFE?

Holla everyone its your girl Adathetowncrier ,I come with a really disturbing topic today.  Well the whole religious believe got me thinking "Does the law have any right to claim a life? " In those days terrible death sentences where being given to criminal that had committed an outrageous offense such as death by been electrocuted or been hanged, apart from life in prison (well that is also a death sentence) and with this methods the criminal would go through series of pains before finally dying ,But of recent the death sentence are kinda mild just like death by injection, nigeria still does firing squad, now to the main discussion, the Bible and I’m sure the Quran frown against anybody taking the life of a fellow person and I’m  sure all this judges goes to church or mosque, taking the life of a human is regarded as a sin in any religious belief but then why don't the church speak against it or something Is it even legal to kill a person? I wana know what you guys think "Does the law have any right to take a life? " Pls do drop leave a comment below thanks
